First, I really enjoy your channel and your videos have helped me greatly as I develop my video skills. I purchased the M7 a couple of weeks ago (using your discount link) and have been getting familiar with it since then. Today I took it out for its first real field test. Some comments: The remote touchscreen is nice, but also fiddly. The temp was -5°C and it often took several swipes and pokes to get it to respond to my cold fingers. When the remote is detached, you have to be careful with it. I was filming myself doing a task that required both hands, so I put it in a loose pocket in my jacket. This deflected the joy stick and when I looked up at the camera, it was pointing at the sky. Using hand signals to start and stop tracking and reframe the video worked great in my living room. However, outside in the woods, the gimbal seemed to have a hard time noticing my gestures against a busy background of branches. All of the above are part of the learning curve and I think I’ll get them sorted out with more practice. However, there was one issue that surprised me and I haven’t seen mentioned elsewhere is Gimbal Motor Noise! I’m filming with an iPhone 16 Pro and the rumbling noise from the motors was quite loud when the gimbal was actively “gimballing”. The bottom of the phone is pressed against one of the motors - the location of the default microphone. The BlackMagic app has options to set which microphone to use and I’ll be testing those along with an external mic next. Just wanted to mention this and see if others have noticed this issue.

I was looking at M6 which is still on my list but the m7 is definitely in my sights only issue is the m7 is double the price of m6

I’ve just sent the M6 back. Thankfully it was still in that return window. I’d like to add the MC-01, an external SSD, but struggled to find the space and balancing became difficult when adding a lens as well. Looks like the M7 had more space between the phone and arm. The 500g will now be within all that weight. Dropping, to the reported 12 hrs battery life, from the claimed, 18 on the M6 isn’t a good move. Looking forward to trying out for myself.

This is definitely one of the more advanced gimbles on the market. And I definitely applaud them, but it's out of my range for right now. I'll stick with these smaller isteady q Until Insta, 360 comes out with something. That is really good fur androids as well as iphone

Great review! My assumption based on what you said, is that the Focus Rack and Zoom capabilities do not work with the Blackmagic camera app, unless they come out with a Bluetooth update to support it?

great review and thoral.I have a zv1 with zhiyun m3 which is amazing but with less weight can t work properly (sometimes it drifts or shakes after longhour video).the weight of sony is almost 300 grams, a)can you test hohem with small compact cameras, b) i purchased the Xiaomi 14t which is phenomenal for its price ,is android working properly with this gimbal , c) what about audio ports,is it supporting any of those ? thank you in advance from sunny GREECE

Hi, Simon, great review! Have you ever tried to film with the phone horizontally attached to this gimbal, when wireless mic receiver attached to it? Or may be mic receiver attached to phone from one side and lens or ND filter on the other? Could the gimbal stand this load and to work correctly and smooth ?

I am a ceramic artist just asked the hohem support if it will track only hands …..they were unsure …could you test to see if it will track hand movements
